Story City: Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Marie Anderson were held last Wednesday June 26 at the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church in Story at 2 p.m. with the pastor Rev. W. D. Winder in charge.

Miss Sandra Jensen sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and Miss Corrine Semler served at the church organ. Interment was made in the Center Cemetery southwest of Story City. Pall bearers were Tony Sparboe, Lars Raymond, Lu Verne Smith, Howard Smith, Magnus Miller and Hans Hendrickson.

Life Sketch

Mrs. David (Anna Marie) Anderson was born as Anna Marie Jorgenson on June 4, 1874 in Toulov, Sogn, Tyland, Denmark. Her parents were Morten and Anna Jorgenson and she was the youngest of seven children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith but for many years she has held her membership in Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church, Story City.

She came as a girl with her parents from her native land Denmark to Story City. It is in this community that she spent the greater share of her life.

On May 1892 she was united in marriage to David Anderson of Story City. To this union, six children were born, two of whom preceded the parents in death: Alfred, at 1 1/2 years, and Andrew Anderson in 1936. Her husband, who had served as blacksmith for many years, passed away on Sept. 16, 1939.

Mrs. Anderson had the misfortune of falling and fracturing her hip in April 1954, following which she spent sometime in the hospital in Iowa City. For more than three years she had lived at Gilmore Nursing Home in Nevada. During that time, her health had slowly declined. On Saturday morning, June 22, 1957 she died. She had reached the age of 83 years and 18 days.

Four children survive --Mrs. Anna Wike of Foley, Ala., Mrs. Hannah Hoffman of Story City, Mortimer Anderson of Michigan, No. Dak. and Fred of Cedar Rapids, 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.
