Last Rites Monday For John F. Dial

NEVADA--Funeral services for John F. Dial were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with the Rev. David Ash officiating.

Two songs, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Sometime We Will Understand" were sung by Mrs. Harry Sutherland, accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson at the organ.

The casket bearers were Lew Heintz, Harry New, Leo Sutherland, Thor Swanson, Con Swanson and Ira Vail.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

John F. Dial was born in Shelby county, Illinois, on Sept. 11, 1875, the youngest son, and at the time of his death, the last of the family of nine children of William and Elizabeth Dial.

A member of the United Brethren church, he was married to Lysta Mars Dec. 24, 1905 and they, two years ago, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

In the fall of 1915 they came to Story county from Illinois to farm east of Colo, southeast and then northeast of Fernald. In the fall of '41 John quit farming because of ill health and in the fall of '42 they came to Nevada where they resided at 1027 Eleventh a period of fifteen years.

Always a good neighbor and ready to help in time of need, he is survived by his wife Mrs. Lysta Dial of Nevada and by several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and five sisters.

Death came Saturday morning, March 29, 1958 at the Story County Hospital where he had been a patient for four weeks following an illness of several years.
