Former auditor dies

NEVADA--Byron F. Dickey, 78, of 1003 36th in Des Moines, died Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be held for Dickey, a former resident of Nevada, from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David L. Reeves officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

Dickey, a former Story County Auditor, was a salesman for Pioneer Lumber Company for 14 years and had been with the Levine Company for the past 15 years retiring on June 1, 1977. He was a 50-year member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge No. 99, A.F. and A.M., and a member of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Faye, one son, Claude G. Dickey of Des Moines and niece, Mrs. Carole Klein of Des Moines, Iowa. Dickey was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
