Chester Handeland Of Roland Passed Away Wednesday

Roland, June 27.Chester Handeland, 84, passed away at this home in Roland Wednesday night at 9 o'clock as the result of a stroke he suffered six months ago.

Born in Norway, Europe, Nov. 27, 1862 he came to this country when 26 years of age. He was married to Hannah Weltha. They lived southwest of Roland for a number of years before moving to a farm near Randall.

Three or four years ago they moved back to Roland.

Mr. Handeland is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter. The former are Carl, of Garden City, Osborn of Chicago, John of Clarinda, Alfred of Story City, and Myron of Minnesota. The daughter is Mrs. Milford Britson of Roland.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:15 at the home in Roland and at 2 p. m. at St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City with Rev. S. T. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Story City cemetery.
