Funeral Services For Matilda Ford at Christian Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Ford of Prairie City who passed away very suddenly on Tuesday, April 3, while visiting in Nevada were held from the Nevada Church of Christ on Saturday afternoon with Rev. Richard Dawson officiating.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful. They were testimonials as to the love felt for this good woman whose life had been one of devotion to others. Duets were sung by Mrs. Robert Ogden and Mrs. Mildred McConnell, "Saved by Grace" and "Sunrise." Mrs. Marley Lobaugh was at the piano.

The pall bearers were Marley Lobaugh, Carl Holder, Harold Holder, Guy French, Marion Phillip, Wm. Farrington.

Committal was in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Dawson:

"Mrs. Matilda Sarah Ann Booher Ford was born at Nevada, Iowa, December 30, 1997 and passed away while visiting in Nevada on April 3, 1945. Her age at the time of passing was 57 years, three months and four days. Mrs. Ford was the fifth child of Vitus Leander and Mary Della Booher.

In December, 1908, Mrs. Ford took the confession and was baptized at the Nevada Church of Christ. She was married September 1918 to Mark B. Ford. Mrs. Ford had spent most of her lifetime in Iowa though living for short periods in Minnesota, California and New York. At the time of her passing she was making her home in Prairie City, Iowa. She held membership in the Rebekah Lodge and the Women's Relief Corps and very active. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ford is survived by a stepson, Mark Ford of Niagra Falls, N. Y. for whom she had great affection and he for her. She is also survived by the following brothers; Oscar Booher of Charles City, Frank Booher of Prairie City, Marion Booher of Boulder, Colorado, Howard Booher of Des Moines and Winnie Booher of Portland, Oregon and one sister; Mrs. Cora Conklin of Cheyenne, Wyoming. There are many nieces and nephews and relatives, as well as many friends, who will miss the deceased."

Relatives here for the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Booher, son Ira and daughter Ella of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Clay Conklin of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Winnie Booner of Portland, Ore; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Booher of Prairie city, their sons Warren, Ray, Carl and their daughter Mary Jane; Howard Booher of Des Moines; Mark Ford of Niagra Falls, N. Y.; Mrs. Guy Beemer and son Billy of Lakota; Mr. and Mrs. Wagner of Prairie City, Mr. and Mrs. Wagner of Prairie City, Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews and family of Maxwell. In addition to relatives there were ten or twelve friends from Prairie city in attendance at the funeral service.
