Funeral Services for Tollen B. Engen Thursday Afternoon
Slater, June 26--Funeral services for Tollen B. Engen were held Thursday afternoon. A brief prayer service was held at his home in Slater at 1:15 p.m. At 2 p.m., services were held at the Lutheran church in Cambridge. The services were in charge of Rev. H. E. Jacobson of Cambridge. Burial was made in the Palestine cemetery.
Tollen Engen was born April 15, 1885 at Cambridge, Iowa and died at his home in Slater June 15, 1947 at the age of 62 years and two months. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Lars Tollefson Engen. The family moved to Kenneth, Minn., when he was quite young. On February 5, 1916, he was married to Ella Larson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Larson of Cambridge, where they made their home for a number of years. About four years ago they moved to Slater. He was a painter and interior decorator and was employed at the Iowa State college at Ames for some time.
He is survived by his wife and five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Sams and Mrs. Alvina McHone of Des Moines, Mrs. Dorothy Denton of Cambridge, Mrs. Wilma Kaltenhauser of Roland, Mrs. Mildred Fitch of Slater and one son, Roger, at home; also six sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Aarestad of Kintyre, N. D., Mrs. Ida Beal of Bismarck, N. D., Mrs. Minnie Jensen of Coleharbor, N. D., Mrs. Annie Remmie and Mrs. Sylvia Remmie of Luverne, Minn., Mrs. Ella Maland of Santa Paula, Calif., and one brother, Anfin Engen, of Luverne, Minn.
A number of relatives and friends from Slater attended the services at Cambridge.
