Luverne E Fitch

Luverne Fitch, 56, of Slater died Saturday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

A Nevada native, he attended the Maxwell schools. Fitch was a former Slater area farmer, and a past ISU employee. He was a past member of the Slater Volunteer Fire Department, a World War II veteran, and a member of the Slater Community Club and Bethleham Lutheran Church.

Fitch is survived by his wife, the former, Mildred Engen; by a son, Richard of Slater; four daughters, Sharon Ihle of Polk City, Linda Mataya of Madrid, Charlotte Duhn of Slater and Judy Fitch of Slater, by 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater with burial in the Palestine Cemetery in Huxley.

Friends may call at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
