Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Anna Nelson

McCALLSBURG: The last rites for Mrs. Anna S. Nelson of McCallsburg were held Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at the Brouhard funeral home in Zearing with the Rev. D. R. Jafvert of McCallsburg in charge assisted by the Rev. Darold Eller of the Zearing E.U.B. church.

Casket bearers were Willis Mills, Jim Carey, E. R. Morris, Andy Thompson, George Auestad, and Lloyd Ellingson.

The many floral memorials were in charge of Mrs. Willis Mills and Mrs. Jim Carey

Mrs. Walter Lund organist accompanied Mrs. Paul johns who sang two numbers "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Love of God", Rev. Jafvert spoke from Psalms 34:9.

Obituary

Anna Sarah, daughter of Adam Kinser and Lavina Dakin Guthrie was born Nov. 22, 1884 in Warren Township in Story County. She suffered a stroke, it is believed, Feb. 28 and passed away at the Eldora Memorial hospital March 4 at the age of 72 years. Burial was made in the McCallsburg cemetery.

She was united in marriage to Nehemiah H. Nelson and took up residence in McCallsburg, which has continued to be her home. To them were born two daughters Lucille (Mrs. Edward Johnson) of Zearing and Ilo (Mrs. Ralph Butler) of McCallsburg.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother, Solomon W. Guthrie and a sister, Mable (Mrs. Andy Nagle.)

Surviving are the daughters, four grandchildren, Phyllis Butler Harshbarger of Madrid, Kenton Butler of Ames, Vincent Butler of Waterloo and David Johnson of Zearing and six great grandchildren, also two brothers, H. A. Guthrie of Charles City and Rev. B. H. Guthrie of Fresno, Calif., and a sister, Alice Guthrie of Cedar Rapids, all of whom were present for the funeral with the exception of Rev. Guthrie who was unable to come.

Mrs. Nelson was a home loving person and devoted to her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Presbyterian church and of the Home Department of the Sunday school.

Relatives in attendance at the services other than those named were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Guthrie of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Couser and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Malliett and Margaret of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Manley Dakin, A. P. Couser, Mrs. Bert Craft of Zearing, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Nleson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ross of Des Moines, Mrs. Gertrude Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Klove of Iowa Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Silas Nelson of Roland.

Friends from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Art Skeie, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Butler, Mrs. Nellie Butler of Ames, Oren Butler of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Finnie, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Johnson and Leo of Des Monies, Edd Tway and Florence Tway, Mrs. Mary Reitz, Mrs. Anna Marsh and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Britten of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Davis of Eldora and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bright of Radcliffe, and many others from surrounding towns.
