Funeral Services Held For Nels Fatland

STORY CITY: Funeral services were held March 6 at the Immanuel Lutheran church for Nels Fatland who died March 3 at his home. Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiated. Mrs. Ben Anderson sang "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Tenk Naar en Gang Den Tooge" accompanied by Mrs. Arvie Jacobson.

Pall bearers were Severt Alsager, Embert Munsen, Erick Hove, Sheldon Williams, Goomand Olson and T. M. Holm. Burial was in the Story City cemetery.

Obituary

Nels Fatland, eldest son of Nels and Anna Fatland, was born in Skaanevik, Norway, April 3, 1873. In his early youth, he came to the United States and stayed with relatives in Newark, Ill., where he was a farmer.

In 1912 he came to Iowa and worked in the Kanawha community for several years. He was united in marriage to Maggie Weeks, March 27, 1918 in Des Moines. They lived near Kanawha for four years, then moved to a farm near Clarion and moved to Story City in 1935.

Mr. Fatland is survived by his wife, one brother, Martin of Newark, Ill., and one sister-in-law, Martha Weeks. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
