W. E. Ericson Services Held In Story City

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in Story City for W. E. Ericson, lifelong resident of the community. Rites in St. Petri Lutheran church at 2 o'clock were preceded by a prayer service at Larson Funeral Home, the Rev. Ocee Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Robert Hermanson provided special music at the church, singing several numbers.

Interment was in Story City municipal cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were: Sherman M. Larson, Irving Wierson, Sylvan Skeie, Jasper Erickson, Melbourne Henderson and Otis Thorsbakken.

Obituary

Wier Elias Ericson was born on Nov. 10, 1974 to Tolef and Anna Ericson at Story City, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church by Rev. Amlund and was a member of this church throughout his life.

He was married to Emelia Jorgenson on Oct. 12, 1899. The couple had 52 years together, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in 1949. Mrs. Ericson passed away on Nov. 6, 1951. He lived his whole life within three miles of Story City, and the last 44 years in the present farm home. At the time of his death on Tuesday, March 16 he had reached the age of 79 years, four months and 6 days.

He was preceded in death by six sisters.

He is survived by one brother: E. W. Ericson of Carpio, N. Dak. and one sister Miss Olena Ericson of Des Moines.

Five children are left to mourn his loss: Arnold of Roland; Morris at home; Julia (Mrs. Arthur Thorsbakken) of Iowa Falls, Gerhard of Story City; Ernest of Los Angles, Calif. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
