Final Services For Mrs. George Atkins
Funeral services for Mrs. George W. Atkins, resident of Story City for the past 12 years, who passed away at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on Monday, Aug. 1, at the age of 74, were held in Grace E.U.B. church, Story City on Thursday afternoon.
Des Moines Pastor
The Rev. James E. Smith, assistant pastor of the University Christian church, Des Moines of which the deceased had been a member since 1918, officiated. The church rites were preceded by a prayer service in the home of the son-in-law and daughter, with whom Mrs. Atkins had been making her home.
The floral offerings, which surrounded the casket, were many and beautiful. Also given in her memory were gifts of money to various benevolences.
Special music was provided by Donald Atkins of Melbourne, who sang two hymns, accompanied at the organ by his wife.
Interment was held in the Story City cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were Magne Idse, L. W. Valline, T. M. Holm, Albert Frandson, Alfred Sampson and M. S. Olson.
Surivors
Surviving Mrs. Atkins, besides her husband, who served as county sheriff and county auditor at Logan, Iowa, where they lived for many years prior to moving to Des Moines, are two children, Mrs. L. B. Brattebo of Story City and G. W. Atkins, Jr., of Clear Lake; a sister, Mrs. J. A. Laing of Atascaderio, Calif., and three grandchildren.
Those attending the services from Clear Lake, Minneapolis, Spirit Lake, Albert city, Persia, Melbourne, Albion and Des Moines.
