FORMER NEVADA TEACHER IS DEAD

DOROTHY ROEHLK, WELL REMEMBERED HERE, DIED AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

Miss Dorothy Roehlk, former teacher in the Nevada schools, died at Mercy hospital, Gary, Indiana, September 15, according to word reaching Mrs. E. A. Chapman of 812 Seventh street, at whose home Miss Roehlk lived during the time that she taught here. Interment was in Graceland cemetery, Morningside, Sioux City, following funeral services at the home of a sister at Sergeant Bluff. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. George Henry, who was pastor of the Christian church, while Miss Boehlk taught here.

Dorothy Elizabeth Roehlk, was born September 21, 1886 at Laurens, Iowa. She died in Mercy hospital at Gary, Indiana, Thursday, September 15, 1927 after a very brief illness. She united with the Church of Christ in early girlhood. She was graduated from the Laurens High School in 1904. She was also a graduate of the State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and attended Drake Univerity. She took a course at the Gregg school of Shorthand.

For a number of years she taught at Laurens, Nevada and Humboldt. Later she attended the University of Chicago where she received her Ph. B. degree in 1924. Since that time she has been at the head of the Commercial Departement of the Roosevelt High School in East Chicago.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of th White Shrine in Laurens.

Besides the hostes of friends and other relatives, she leaves five sisters and one brother. They are Mrs. Agnes Leuer, Glidden, Iowa; Mrs. Matilda Buckwalter, Laurens; Mrs. Laura Whitman, Laurens; Mrs. Sadie Krogh, Sargents Bluff, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Baker, Sargents Bluff; William Roehlk, Laurens.
