HOME COMING BURIAL

Ann Elizabeth Smay Hague, Pioneer Woman of Story County, Laid to Rest in Nevada Cemetery

Mrs. Alonzo Hague of Tacoma, Wash., died at her home in that city February 11, 1921. Her death resulted from the combined effects of a fall and pneumonia. Her burial took place in Nevada's cemetery in the morning of May 20th, 1921. Brief services were conducted by Rev. C. N. Swihart of Lutheran Memorial church.

Mrs. Hague was a native of Indiana, and was born January 14, 1844; she came as a child with her people to Story county. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Absolom Smay. The Smays and the Magues [sic] were among the very earliest of the county's settlers. Mr. Hague was Nevada's early foundryman. The family left Nevada some thirty-five years ago for Alliance Neb., and some twenty-five years later removed to Tacoma. She is survived by her husband, sons Edwin and John, of Tacoma, and daughters, Mrs. Mamie Hicks of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Mrs. Nettie Shaw, of Nevada.

Mrs. Hague was a charter member of Johnson Grove Lutheran church, and in all respects a most worthy woman. Her body was accompanied on its home coming journey by her husband, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edwin Hague. Mrs. Hague is likewise a member of one of our worthy pioneer families, the Carters, now residents of Des Moines.
