SILAS P. ALDERMAN DIED THURSDAY
FUNERAL SERVICES AT EVANGELICAL CHURCH TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Silas P. Alderman, for many years a resident of Nevada and Story county passed away at his home, 737 Ninth street, in Nevada Thursday forenoon at eleven o'clock.
Funeral services will be held from the Evangelical church in this city on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00. The service will be in charge of Rev. Charles Pickford, assisted by Rev. L. T. Olson and Rev. H. J. Wackerbarth. Burial will be in Nevada cemetery.
Mr. Alderman who was born in Iowaville, Iowa, eighty years ago last November had been in failing health for past few years, his decline being very marked for several months. For many years he was a resident of the Mullen Settlement where his family was born and reared to young manhood and womanhood. The mother of his children passed away Feb. 2, 1923, the son of Bruce Alderman, who was county superintendent of schools in Linn county for many years, died about fourteen years ago, the daughter Mrs. Edith Hathaway of Nevada on June 20, 1922 and the son Grover Alderman, Dean of Education in the University of Pittsburg but a few weeks ago.
Mr. Alderman was married a few years ago to Mrs. Mae Wood whom with the son F. A. Alderman of this city, and a number of grandchildren survive him.
The funeral service was delayed to allow the presence of Mrs. Grover Alderman and children and the grandson Everett Alderman who are driving out from Pennsylvania at this time. The body of Grover Alderman, which will be brought to Iowa for burial and it was first thought would be brought at this time and buried at the same time as the father, will be returned to Iowa later.
