Michael McDonald Was Buried Today

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Aug. 5--Michael McDonald, 87, one of the pioneer residents of the Dunn Settlement in the St. Anthony neighborhood and well-known around Zearing, died Sunday evening a the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Dunwoody at New Providence. Death due to complications came after an illness covering over a period of several months.

Michael McDonald was born in West Comon, County Claire, Ireland, in 1843, and came to the United States in 1863. He came to State Center immediately after entering this country and was married to Mary Cannon in 1870. Following their marriage, Mr. McDonald and his bride went to live on a farm in the Dunn settlement and lived in that community practically all their lives. Mrs. McDonald died in 1905.

Mr. McDonald is survived by three children, the daughter at whose home his death occurred, a son, Willie McDonald, of Marshalltown, and a stepson, James Dannon.

Funeral services were held from the Sacred Heart church in St. Anthony at 10 o'clock this forenoon and burial was in the Dunn cemetery.
