Mrs. Sam Askelson Was Laid to Rest

Special to the Journal.
Story City, May 7--Funeral services for Mrs. Sam Askelson, 93, pioneer resident of near Gilbert, who died at the home of a son Saturday, was held at South St. Petri church, near Gilbert Tuesday and interment was in the cemetery nearby, on the same lot with her husband who died 8 years ago.

She and her husband came to this country sixty-four years ago they moved into Story county and bought a farm four miles south of Story City, where they lived continually up to the time of Mrs. Askelson's death. At that time Mrs. Askelson moved into Gilbert for a few years, but since she became too feeble to live alone she has been cared for by her son, Oscar.

She leaves one brother in Norway, besides seven children, Oscar, George, Nils, Albert, Sam, Mrs. John Hougland and Mrs. T. L. Olson, all living around here. Besides the above she leaves sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
