A. J. KURTZ IED ABOUT NOON TODAY

PASSED AWAY FOLLOWING AN EMERGENCY OPERATION FOR OBSTRUCTION

Andrew J. Kurtz, 77, 303 K avenue, Story county pioneer, is dead today, having passed away shortly before noon following an operation which he had submitted to for obstruction of the bowels.

Mr. Kurtz, who had been failing for some time ans was in a badly rundown condition, was taken ill the bowel trouble a few days ago and the matter rapidly became very serious.

All ordinary treatment failed to give relief and the emergency operation was resorted to as final means of possibly saving his life.

Mr. Kurtz, who had lived in Story county practically all of his life many years on a farm near Collins and Iowa Center leaves his wife, two sons and ond daughter. The sons are Ray M. Kurtz of Holt county, Neb., and Ernest Kurtz of Nevada while the daughter is Mrs. Eva Ghrist of Glendale, California.

Besides the wife and son Mr. Kurtz leaves numerous grandchildren and other relatives.

The son Ray Kurtz and wife arrived last evening form the home in Nebraska, called by the serious condition of the father.
