SUDDEN DEATH OF HENRY NELSON

GRANT TOWNSHIP FARMER AND LAND OWNER CALLED BY DEATH

Henry Nelson, 55, longtime resident of Grant township, died at Iowa Sanitarium late Friday afternoon, following a major operation for intestinal trouble. Mr. Nelson had not bee feeling well for a few days and on Thursday had gone to Iowa Sanitarium and Friday afternoon at 1:30 went upon the operating table. He died about 6:30 Friday evening.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at Memorial Lutheran church, with Dr. J. O. Simon in charge, and interment will be in the Nevada cemetery.

The deceased Nels Henry Nelson was born February 22, 1875, at Virginia City, in the state of Nevada, where his father and mother, Nels Jorgen Nelson and wife Christina, had gone during the gold mining boom of those days.

He was less than a year old when the parents came back to Iowa and located on a farm just west of Nevada, in Grant township, and it was there that they raised the family of two sons and two daughters. Of the children Henry was the eldest, followed by Christina who is now Mrs. Frank H. Kinsman; Laura who became the wife of Emil Hansen and died a few months ago, and the youngest is Fred W. Nelson, of Grant township.

Henry was never married but lived with his sisters and worked his farms, at which vocation he prospered.

Of later years he had spent his winters in Nevada, having had a room in the Baker home on Main and M. avenue.

While Mr. Nelson was a man whose acquaintance was not extended, he had many warm friends among those with whom he came in contact and was known as a man of character and the most strict integrity.
