B. H. Guthrie of the Maxwell Presbyterian church, Story county loses another of her real pioneer women.A resident of the community for about sixty-years she was one of the best known and respected women of the neighborhood and the services were attended by old neighbors and friends. Several songs were sung by a quartette consisting of Mrs. Charles Cooper, Mrs. Marcus Smith, Ross Oliver and Earl Brown.

She was married to John Jory, January 23, 1868, at Beloit, Wisconsin.
In October 1869, they came to Iowa in a covered wagon and on the virgin prairie established the home where they spent their married life.
