ED. A. CHAPMAN SR. DIED LAST NIGHT

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD SUNDAY AT 2:30 FROM SMITH HOME

Edward A. Chapman Sr., 80, died very suddenly Friday evening at 6:45 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Smith, 605 Tenth street.

Mr. Chapman while he had been a invalid suffering from heart trouble since the first week in December, had been able to be up and around the house, and was seated at the dinner table with the family, when he was suddenly stricken with the fatal attack and fell over into the arms of his wife.

The funeral will be from the Smith home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. The service ill be conducted by Rev. L. E. Watson of the Methodist church, of which congregation Mr. and Mrs. Chapman were members.

Mr. Chapmans health had been impaired by a troublesome heart for several years and his death, coming sudden as it did, was not unexpected.

Edward A. Chapman was a New Yorker coming of old Revolutionary stock. His venerable grandfather Edward A. Chapman Sr., was a soldier in the revolutionary war.

The subject of this sketch was son of Mr. and Mrs Benjamin F. Chapman, having been born at Batavia, N. Y., June 11, 1850. When a boy he came out to Wisconsin with the family settling first at Monroe. They came on to Iowa in 1870 and it was here that he was united in marriage to Belle Dunklebarger, July 4 1872.

To this union three sons and four daughters were born. The eldest daughter, Mary Woodson, is now deceased, while those who with the mother, survive the father are Gertrude Smith of Nevada; Orr Chapman of Sidney, Mont.; Nathan Chapman of Downey, Calif.; Edward A. Chapman Jr. of Nevada, Belle Applegate of Nevada and Elva Harrington of Colo.

In addition to the wife and children, the deceased leaves number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as two brothers and one sister. The brothers are George A. Chapman of 837 Seventh street, Nevada and William Chapman of Los Angeles; and the sister is Mrs Addie French of 1635 Seventh street, Nevada.

Mr. and Mrs. Chapman had lived since their marriage in a home in the extreme southwest corner of the city, where Mr. Chapman had farmed during the most of his active years and it was here they reared their family of children.

Mr. Chapman was a man of pleasant and kindly disposition, honest and upright in his dealings with his fellow man and was respected by all who knew him.

The family will receive the profound sympathy of the people of the community.
