FORMER NEVADA WOMAN SUICIDED

MRS. JESSE COLE ASPHYXIATED AT HER HOME IN BOONE MONDAY

Mrs. Jesse Cole, 35, who suicided at her home in Boone late Monday afternoon by inhaling gas from the kitchen range, during a spell of despondency, was a former resident of Nevada and is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Van Gundy of 733 Lincoln avenue this city.

Threatened loss of her eyesight and impaired health had caused the woman to become despondent. She was found dead by W. J. Baker, the landlord, who had apartments in the same building with a mutual outside entrance.

Finding the door locked, he unlocked it and entered the gas filled hallway. Smelling the gas he forced his way into the bedroom where he found the lifeless body of the woman who had packed the openings in the door and windows and shutting herself in, turned on the gas jet.

Coroner T. H. Jones was called but decided that an inquest was not necessary.

Mr. Cole, who conducts the Cosey Inn, was at this place of business at the time, and the children were in school. The woman had been dead for some hours when the body was found.

There will be services held at Boone Thursday, after which the body will be taken to the family home at Slater where the funeral and interment will be held.

Mrs. Cole leaves besides her husband, her three children Hope Prescott and Dale Prescott and Virgil Cole, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Van Gundy, one brother and four sisters, includes her sister Mrs. Merlyn Davisson and Mrs. William Fudge of Nevada.
