FORMER GRANT RESIDENT DEAD

OSCAR MATTHEWS VICTIM OF ACUTE INDIGESTION AT ORANGE, CALIFORNIA

Oscar D. Matthew, 72, died at his home at Orange, Calif. early Monday of acute indigestion, according to word reaching relatives and friends in Grant township.

Mr. and Mrs. Mathews, pioneers of the Grant township neighborhood had made their home in California for about 19 years.

Of their two daughters one, Mrs. Leo Armstrong makes her home at Ames during the summer season and spends part of the winter season at Orange, while the other is Mrs. Walter Lovell, married and living at Orange.

No definite word had reached here as the funeral services or interment but it is thought that the services will be held there and burial will be at Orange.

Mr. Mathews was a man well and favorably known in the community in which he had lived before leaving for California.

The daughter, Mrs. Leo Armstrong, with members of her family are now on the coast and were doubtless present at the time of the death of the father.

Mr. Mathews was a son of one of pioneer families of the county and owned and lived upon a farm in Section 28, Grant township, a mile west of Shipley for many years before going to California.
