PIONEER ZEARING WOMAN IS DEAD
MRS. E. D. ALLEN PASSED AWAY EARLY TODAY AT HOME OF DAUGHTER
Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Jan 20--Mrs. Elvira D. Allen, 73, a resident of this community since 1882, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. E. A. Hein, at Hubbard, early today from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. She had been cared for at the home of the daughter for several months.The funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ in Zearing, Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock after which interment will be in the Zearing cemetery. Rev. A. T. Trimble of Marion, a former pastor will be in charge.
Mrs. Allen was a native of Iowa, having been born in Wapello county, October 9, 1856.
She came to Iowa in 1882 and has since been a resident of Zearing and vicinity, where she was well known and had a wide circle of friends.
Esau Allen, her husband, died a number of years ago and she leaves two daughters and two sons. The surviving children are Mrs. Wilbur Alexander of Ames, L. C. Allen of Hampton, Will Allen of Marshalltown and Mrs. Hein of Hubbard. Two daughters preceded her in death.
