Steve Holtman, 64 of Nevada, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at his home in
Nevada.Steve was born November 5, 1953, in Des Moines, the son of Lyle and Erma (Brown)
Holtman. He graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines in 1972 and from Iowa State University in 1977 with a degree in Architecture. Steve was united in marriage to Shelley Struble on August 14, 1976 in Des Moines. He worked for Wellmark in Des Moines as a Facilities Manager for many years, retiring in 2011. Steve was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada and a past member of IFMA (International Facilities Management Association).Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his children and granddaughters. He also enjoyed family fishing trips, golfing, traveling, listening to music, attending concerts and watching movies. His favorite travels included trips to Rome and Puerto Rico to view the classic architecture.
Steve is survived by his wife, Shelley of Nevada; his daughter, Erin (Derek) Miller of
Bettendorf; his son, Kyle (Laura) Holtman of Ankeny; three granddaughters: Natalie
and Katherine Miller and Dylan Holtman; his brother, Jon (Shaela) Holtman of Ames; two nieces: Stephanie (Tony) Lopez and Andrea Holtman; and his nephew, Ethan Holtman. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Dick and Fern Struble of Ankeny; brother-in-law Kirk Struble of Urbandale and more extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Scot Struble.A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 5th at Central Presbyterian
Church in Nevada. A celebration of life reception will be held following the service in the fellowship hall at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Nevada.
