Christine “Chris” Ann Fedler, 65 of Nevada, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at her home in Nevada.
Chris was born January 10, 1953, in Queens Village, NY the daughter of Keith and Catherine (Bauer) Wagerle. She graduated in 1971 from Barrington High School in Illinois and earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State in 1975, double majoring in food science and food nutrition. On May 31, 1975, Chris was united in marriage to David Fedler in West Point, Iowa. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada, St. Teresa Study Club, RCIA, ISU Alumni Association and the Cyclone Club. Chris enjoyed working at Iowa State and her career spanned over 40 years. She received the Professional and Scientific Distinguished Research/Teaching Award from Iowa State in 2017. She also enjoyed Cyclone athletics, cooking, vacationing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Chris is survived by her husband, David of Nevada; her daughters: Michelle (Matt) Williams of Charles City and Stefani (Shane) Pitkin of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren: Nicholas, Lilly and Carrie Williams all of Charles City; and her brother, Keith (Teresa) Wagerle of Yorba Linda, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Ellie Williams; and her mother-in-law, Marjorie Fedler.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1110 11th Street) in Nevada with Fr. Rick Dagit celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Nevada.
