Obituary

Elsie Olson was born Sept. 7, 1860, her parents being Elsie and Thormond Olson, at Sunde, Sondhordland, Norway, and she passed away at her home in Story City, Friday, December 28, 1945.

She came to America in 1883 and was married to Ole Jondall, who had come from Norway the previous year to establish a home for her.

They were united in marriage in the St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City, of which she has since been a member.

To this union were born seven children, of whom five remain to mourn her loss, namely: Mrs. Thea Barnes, Henry, Mrs. Ole O. Jacobson, Mrs. Clarence Jacohson, and Marie; also 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Besides her husband, two sons, Lewis and Selius, her parents, 3 brothers and three sisters have all preceded her in death, she being the last surviving member of her family.

During her life here she was an active member of the St. Petri church, earnest and sincere, in her Christian confession, faith and life. Those who had the opportunity of visiting and being with her during her years of suffering will not forget the example of patience, fortitude and childlike trust in the Savior shown by Mrs. Jondall. That she was a child of God, who had found peace through the assurance of God's mercy in Christ, is the comfort which sustains her children in their bereavement.

Mrs Ethel Wagner from Ottumwa came here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Jondall last Wednesday. Others from out-of-town who attended were Floyd Jondall of Fort Ripley, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. L. Criswell of Des Moines, Mrs. Irwin Hill of Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Toft of Hadley, Minn., Mrs. Art Britson, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Thompson of Roland, Peter Lund of Jewell, Kenneth Jondall, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chase, Hannah, Fred and Betty Jondall, Ames.
