Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

John Arthur 81, of Ames, passed away January 21, 2018 at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter on Friday, January 26th at 2:00pm. A Gathering of Friends is from 5-7 pm at First Christian Church in Ames. Please enter through the west door.

John Joseph Raymond Arthur Jr. was born January 22, 1937 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to John and Avis (Amos) Arthur. John was a Korean War veteran and served in the Marines from 1954-1956. He was a member of the 40 & 8 and the American Legion Post #37 in Ames. John enjoyed volunteering for American legion events, tinkering with motorcycles and cars. He worked for Industrial Plating in Ames for 25 years.

He is survived by his former wife, Diann Arthur of Ames; his children, Ouna (Tim) Killam of Gilbert, Rick (Hope) Arthur of Ames, Cindy (Ron) Ratliff of Gilbert; seven grandchildren, Erica (Eric) Helland of Urbandale, Jason Killam of Boone, Adam (Rachel) Arthur of Urbandale, Alex (Chelsea) Arthur of Des Moines, Austin Arthur of Ames, Ryan and Nolan Ratliff of Gilbert; three great grandchildren, Jilliouna Helland, Cael Killam and Cooper Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As John would say “See ya later Alligator, after while crocodile, In a little bit chicken…..”
