Denise Diane Lawson, 62 of Ames, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, at her home.

Denise was born September 16, 1955, in Fort Dodge the daughter of Robert Dwight Patton and Darlene Mae Mosher. She met Clemme Lee Lawson in 1978 and they were married December 24, 2000 in Fort Dodge. Denise was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Ames and had owned and operated Tender Touch Childcare until 2014. She enjoyed crafts and painting, singing and thrifting. Denise will be remembered as someone who always put others before herself.

Denise is survived by her husband, Lee of Ames; her daughter, Jessica (Jermaine) Lawson-Clipper of Ames; her step-sons: Leandre Lawson of West Des Moines and Ardragus Lawson of Houston, TX; her step-daughter, Shelia (Derrick) Lawson-Arceneaux of Houston, TX; her brothers: Sam Knowles of Ohio, Mike Patton of Fort Dodge, Robert Patton of Fort Dodge and Stewert Patton of Fort Dodge; her sister, Julie (Charlie) Degner of Fort Dodge; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Terry Patton.

An informal gathering of friends and family will be 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, December 8 at Heartland Baptist Church in Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lee Lawson, 1703 Bel Air Drive, Ames, IA 50010.
