Carla Mae Kennedy, 82, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Carla was born March 29, 1935 at Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Paul L. and Helen B. (Gray) Bennell. She was united in marriage to Edward Daniel Kennedy on November 14, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa. Edward preceded Carla in death in 2016. Carla graduated from Washington, Iowa High School and attended Grandview College. She had a love for music and was a music and piano teacher, retiring in 2006. Carla was a member of the Wakonda Christian Church in Des Moines.

Carla is survived by three daughters: Lynn Cave of Minnesota, Susan Burham of Nevada, Iowa, Mary Lee Chase of Ankeny, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister: JoAnne Wagner of Tuscon, Arizona.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and her brother, Paul Bennell, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
