Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Don Eugene Paulson was born March 30, 1925 to Franklin and Sara (Enderson) Paulson on the family farm west of Story City. He was the oldest of seven children. Don was baptized, confirmed , and married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Story City.

Don was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WW II . A highlight of his life was going on the Freedom Flight to Washington D.C. with his brother, Duane.

In 1948, he married Darlene Smith. Together they farmed in rural Story City and later in the Ellsworth area. Along with farming, Don was fertilizer plant manager in Story City, Nevada, and Elkhart. He loved the farm, camping, wintering in Arizona, and above all, spending time with his family and friends. Don was a patient and loving man. His grandchildren loved his sense of humor. He never complained in spite of all his illnesses.

Don passed away at 92 years of age on November 4, 2017 at his home.

Don is survived by two daughters, Donna (Marv) Orth of Ames and Dee Danielson of Ames; four special grandchildren, Crystal (Todd) Wilson, Brooke Orth Ploessl, Heather (Dan) Baxter and Shawn (Carisa) Danielson; and was proud of his ten great grandchildren, Tate Ploessl, Emersyn Ploessl, Jaxon,Danielson, Addy Danielson, Treyton Danielson, Paige Baxter, Lauren Baxter, Noah Baxter, Avery Wilson and Brock Wilson. He is also survived by his brother, Duane (Betty) Paulson of Story City; his sisters, Dorothy Doan of Annapolis, Maryland and Marilyn Steele of Brazoria, Texas; his nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Sam; his Broad Street Condo family; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his brothers, Roger and Stanley; and a sister, Kay.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Don Paulson.

His love will live on in our hearts forever. Blessed be the memory of Don Paulson
