Dorothy Mae Lowe Fisher (Dottie) peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on November 2, 2017 at Northridge Village, Ames, Iowa.
Born in Waldo, Arkansas to J. Luther and Mattie Ruth Lowe, July 25, 1924, Dottie lived a long and full life and was adored by family, friends, and everyone that she met.
Dottie is survived by sons William Ray and Steven Lynn Fisher (his wife, Lynn), and daughter Patti Fisher Hawley, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Ray William Fisher, and her son, Mark Lowe Fisher.
A graduate of Iowa State University, Dottie met Ray in Ames and they were married on September 9, 1945 at her parents’ farm in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was devoted to her husband, family, church, and community and was active in numerous Bible studies, women’s groups and community organizations.
Beloved by her family and friends, Dottie’s warm smile, willing and generous spirit, quick wit, wide-ranging interests, and hospitality brightened the lives of all she encountered and even those she had never met but were affected by her faith, prayers, and love.
A fervent disciple of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Dottie was active in church and served as a Board Member of Trinity Christian School in Mesa, Arizona. She was dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel not only in word but also in deed.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with services following at 11 am. A light lunch will be served.
