OBITUARY

MRS. J. A. KING

Catherine Elizabeth King, wife of Jay A. King of this city died at her home here Thursday afternoon, August 7, 1913, after an illness of ten days with apoplexy. Mrs. King had been in the enjoyment of her usual health until Monday afternoon of last week, when she was stricken with apoplexy, and since that time her condition had been recognized as desperate. At one time there was a brief return to consciousness; but the hopes that were thus aroused did no last long, and for several days before her death it was evident that the end was inevitable and near. She grew steadily weaker and died a little after two o'clock on Thursday.

Catherine Elizabeth Severns was born in Piqua, Ohio, in September 1844, and was at her death nearly 69 years of age. She was married when very young to Myron Coggshall, who was much her senior and who died many years ago. She was married to Jay A. King at Belvidere, Illinois, September, 1889. The earlier years of her womanhood were spent in Stephenson county, Illinois; but she came to Story county in 1868, and her home has been in Nevada for the most of the time since. She was a member of the Presbyterian church for forty years, and she was a woman of much ability and strong character. She is survived by her husband, her son Fred M. Coggeshall of Hampton, grandsons Jay and Max Coggeshall, her foster-daughter, Mrs. Florence King-Nelson, her step-son Day E. King of Park City, Utah, her sister, Mrs. Corrilla Ginter, her brother P. M. Severns, and other relatives.

The funeral will be conducted from the house Saturday at two-thirty by Mrs. Rev. Leitsch, and the interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. Day E. King arrived today for the funeral and the nearby relatives are already here.
