Glen John Samson, 87 of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Glen was born April 27, 1930, in rural Colo, the son of Charles and Blanche (Jones) Samson. He graduated from Roland High School in 1948 and enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the Army, Glen was united in marriage to Clare Lou Mahn on November 17, 1952, in Story City. The couple spent time in Colorado and New York before returning to Iowa. Glen owned and operated S&M Appliance Repair and Sales in Nevada for over 50 years.

Glen was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church and the William F. Ball Legion Post #48. In 2016, Glen had the honor of receiving a Quilt of Valor, honoring his military service.

Glen is survived by his sons: Curtis (Theresa) Samson of Ames, Keith Samson of Nevada and Tim (Julie) Samson of Boone; his daughter Denette (Brian) Bovey of Boone; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clare; two brothers and four sisters.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Chris Waddle officiating. Family will greet friends at the church starting at 1:30 p.m. until service time. Inurnment with military honors will follow services at the Colo Cemetery in Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Samson Memorial Fund.
