Mrs. Lucy Silliman Dies Last Night at Cedar Falls Home
Mrs. Lucy N. Silliman, 98, earlier day resident of Nevada, died at her home at 610 Fremont St., Cedar Falls, Tuesday night at 10:30 according to word reaching her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eva Silliman of Colo.
Funeral rites for Mrs. Silliman, who was 98 years of age on October 10 last, will be held at the home in Cedar Falls, Friday morning at 10:30 after which the body, accompanied by the family will be brought to Nevada and interment will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery, where it will be laid to rest by the side of the husband the late R. J. Silliman who died over 40 years ago.
The casket will be open at her graveside previous to committal for the benefit of local friends who desire to view the remains. It is expected the funeral party will arrive here and the committal service held at about 3:30 p.m.
The Silliman family were prominent pioneer residents of the county, Mr. Silliman being engaged in the lumber business and became a heavy land owner. A few years after the death of Mr. Silliman, the old family home at the corner of Tenth and Lincoln avenue was closed and Mrs. Silliman joined her sons and daughters at Cedar Falls and established a home.
