Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Rosalind Amanda Scanes was born August 16, 1979 to Colin and Carla (Turk) Scanes in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Rosalind graduated from Ames High School in 1997 and then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001. She worked as an IT Specialist and Customer Service Representative for Mediafour in West Des Moines. Rosalind also worked as an online moderator and contributor to the online forums, "The Straight Dope" and "The Consumerist". She was well loved and highly regarded in other online gaming forums, and made many friends through them. Rosalind was a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa, and enjoyed traveling which included Australia and New Zealand.

While traveling in New Zealand, she visited the site where the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed, and also overcame her fear of heights! She enjoyed geocaching, trying new foods, cooking, a good wine, solving puzzles, and concert-going with her friends. Rosalind loved to draw cartoons and write, and was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephew. She also loved her black cat, Batman, and her black Pug, Bruce.

Rosalind passed away at 37 years of age on May 24, 2017 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada, after a courageous battle with an auto-immune disease.

Rosalind is survived by her mother, Carla (Perry) Garner of Ames; her father, Colin (Cate) Scanes of Urbandale; her sisters, Jaqui (Andy) Giltner of West Des Moines and Meredith (Jason) Buseman of Johnston; her nieces, Lillian Buseman and Sydney Giltner; her nephew, Lucas Buseman; her close friend, Matt Canny of West Des Moines; her step-brothers and step-sisters; and many other family members in Oklahoma and England.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
