From Nevada Representative August 12, 1907

Death of Walter Mathison*.

Walter Guy Mathison*, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mathison, died Friday evening at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. M. C. Fetterhoff, in this city, of typhoid fever. The boy was born January 25, 1895, and died as stated August 9, 1907, aged 12 years, 6 months and 15 days. He was the eldest son of five children and was a boy that had within the circle of his acquaintance made a reputation as having especial worth and promise.

The family home is on the Fetterhoff farm south of Nevada; but he happened to be taken ill at his grandmother's home in town a few weeks ago and was kept there. He seemed to be doing well for the most part; but a relapse came last week, with fatal results.

The funeral was held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Shaw conducting the services; and there was a large attendance of friends and mourners from both town and country.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The deceased was Orville/Orval Guy Mathison (not Walter Guy Mathison as stated.) He was the son of Peter J. Mathison and Etta Belle Fetterhoff. His grandmother, referenced here as "M. C. Fetterhoff," was Melvina Catherine Cook, wife of Jacob R. Fetterhoff.
