OBITUARY

Mrs. Elias Apple Dead.

Mrs. Elias Apple, aged 79 years, died Wednesday, August 7 at the home of her daughter, Mr. A. H. Mills, Twenty-fourth street and Easton boulevard Des Moines.

Her demise was due to a tumor and death was hastened by the advanced age of the deceased. Mrs. Apple was born in Indiana in 1828 and moved to Story county, Iowa, in 1856, where she resided near Johnson's Grove until 1883, when she moved to Des Moines, where she remained the rest of her life.

She is survived by her husband and four sisters: Mrs J. C. Mitchell of Council Bluffs, Mrs. J. S. Blick of Pasadena, Cal., Mrs. James Todd of Pittsburg, Pa., and Miss Abby Dunning of Pasadena, Cal., and six children--Mrs. J. A. Smay of Ottawa, Kan., Mrs. Ellen J. Smay of Greenville, Ark., Clark Apple of Fernald, Ia., and Leslie C. Apple, Arthur H. Apple and Mrs. A. H. Mills of Des Moines. The funeral was held at the Easton Place Methodist church Friday, August 9, at 2 p. m.
