Joel Wayne Howard
November 1, 1947 - April 20, 2017

Joel Howard, 69, of Nevada, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at his home.

Joel was born November 1, 1947, the son of Glen and Dorothy (Bartusch) Howard. On September 17, 1982, he was united in marriage to Sheryl Baker at Hickory Grove Park. Joel graduated from Gladbrook High School and worked over 30 years for the N.A.D.C. in Ames. He owned Howard ‘s Gun Repair and enjoyed collecting, selling and repairing guns.

Joel is survived by his wife, Sherry of Nevada; his daughter, Melissa Howard of Des Moines; his grandson, Jed Byers of Ames; his great-grandchildren: Blane and Cal Byers of Nevada; and his sister, Martha Howard of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Tom and Bill.

Joel has been cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at his home, 1700 S. 19th Street just south of Nevada.
