Lillian Evelyn Roman, 83, of Carbon Cliff, Illinois, formerly of Chicago and Glendale Heights, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Lillian was born April 15, 1933 at home in Chicago, the daughter of Julian Paul and Agatha Oprzadek Pietrucha. She graduated from Trinity Catholic Grammar School and was a graduate of Saint Columbkille Commercial High School in Chicago where she learned secretarial skills. She worked for Blue Cross in downtown Chicago for several years. She was united in marriage to Henry Joseph Roman on May 10, 1952 in Chicago. Lillian was a homemaker and had worked for Meyercord Manufacturing and for Spraying Systems in Carol Stream. Lillian loved her Polish heritage, could speak fluent Polish, and loved to Polka. She was an excellent dancer to the chagrin of her husband who was not. She was the family historian, full of colorful stories about her family. Lillian was a faithful Christian woman who prayed for her family by name every evening.
Lillian is survived by her son: Thomas (Jamie) Roman of Roselle, Illinois; three daughters: Carol (Rob) Bacon of Slater, Iowa, Diane Wagner of Carbon Cliff, Illinois, Linda (John) Williams of St. Charles, Illinois; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry who died October 12, 1983; a son-in-law: Al Wagner; and four brothers: Edward, Mitchell, Adolph, and Walter.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
