OBITUARY

Burial of Francis Delay.

Francis Delay, late of Chicago was buried from the Catholic church in this city this forenoon. Rev. Father Nichols conducting the funeral. The deceased was somewhat over forty years of age and was highly skilled workman in a Chicago factory that engaged in the manufacture of artificial limbs. He was a son-in-law of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Daugherty of this city his wife having been Miss Kate Daugherty of this city. He was himself never a resident of Nevada; but on account of his wife's associations and relatives here he was brought here for burial. He died at Chicago on Monday and the body was accompanied to Nevada by his widow and three children and by Mrs. Delay's sister-in-law, Mrs. Barney Daugherty of Beloit, Wisconsin, the party arriving on this morning's train. Mrs. Coyne, formerly of Marshalltown and now of Oskaloosa, a sister of Mrs. Delay, also came here to the funeral; and with her Mrs. Delay and children will go this evening to Oskaloosa and thence will return to Chicago.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: I have indexed this obituary as James Delay since that is the way his stone is inscribed in St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery, Nevada, Iowa. Also, his marriage record has James Delay marrying Katie Doherty on 28 August 1890 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
