Death of Mrs. Ida McHone

Died at her home in Cambridge, September 7, 1906, Mrs. Ida McHone. The deceased, whose maiden name was Ida McPherson was born at Iowa Center, October 17, 1869, was married to A. McHone, march 5, 1888, at Nevada, Iowa, and from this union four children were born, Roy, Bertha, Maud and Forest. She was the last one of a family of three to depart this life. She has constantly suffered for over four long years with that dread disease consumption and who today that will say she is no better off in that realm where sickness never comes. All that medical aid could do was done for her, all that loving hands of kind friends could do in ministering to her wants and necessities was gladly and willingly bestowed but these could avail nothing in restoring her to health again. The grim monster came last Friday afternoon and placed his icy hand upon her brow and claimed her as his own; and she departed this life aged 37 years 10 months and 21 days. Through all her years of sufferings she manifested a sweet spirit, never heard to murmur or complain of her lot in life, always appreciating to the fullest extent possible everything done in her behalf by her friends. She was converted January 18, 1902, and united with the Evangelical church until about three months ago when she united with the U. B. church upon her sick bed realizing that her time here was short. She said she was ready to go. Funeral services were held in the U. B. church Sunday morning at ten o'clock conducted by the pastor Rev. H. G. Hicks after which the remains were taken to Iowa Center for burial. She has gone from our midst, her sufferings are over. A large circle of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved ones. The home is made sad, a chair is empty, a place at the table is made vacant. To the husband and the dear children we say commit your lives to the Christ she served and He will lead you to that country where partings never come.
