OBITUARY

DEATH OF MR. HENNINGSEN

B. H. A. Henningsen of Lyons, father of Mrs. W. K. Boardman of this city, was found asphyxiated by gas Saturday morning at the home of friend in Chicago, where he was visiting for a few days. Although 82 years of age, Mr. Henningsen was in most excellent health and vigor, and the news that he was dead, with no explanation as to the cause was a great shock to his friends here. They knew that he was attending regularly to his business affairs and that he had been contemplating a trip the last of the week to Chicago, and they had no reason to anticipate that he would not continue in his generally active ways for an indefinite period yet. The explanation came in the evening papers, from which it appeared that he had gone to the home of friends in Chicago as had been expected and as was his custom, and that through some mischance the gas in his room had been left on, with its inevitable result.

Mr. Henningsen was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, November 5, 1826, and died at Chicago, Illinois, May 15, 1909, aged 82 years, 6 months and 10 days. He came to this country as a young man, established himself here successfully and spent his active and declining years most happily at Lyons in this state. His wife died in the earlier '90s, and since that time his daughters Misses Louise and Harriet had been his homekeepers. His other children are Mrs. Addie (W. K.) Boardman of Nevada and Mrs. Emma Brayton. Mr. Henningsen had been an occasional visitor in Nevada, although he was more given to having his children come home to visit than he was to go and see them. He was a most agreeable and active gentleman, had served, we believe, as treasurer of Clinton county, and was a man of worthiest character and of high standing in his community.

Mr. and Mrs. Boardman, their son Frank M. and daughter Miss Lois went down to Lyons Sunday afternoon, and Mrs. Frank M. followed on Monday, and all will remain to the funeral, which is held there today.
