County Correspondence

SOUTH NEW ALBANY

Last week Mrs. John Phares received the sad news of the death of her son's wife, Mrs. Edgar Crosby, who died of consumption at Roswell, New Mexico. Mr. Crosby moved his family to New Mexico about three years ago, hoping the climate would improve his wife's health. At first she seemed to be growing stronger, but the gain was only temporary. She has been failing for some months, so her death was not unexpected by relatives here. Mrs. Crosby was formerly Miss Mamie Kuhns. The family formerly resided in eastern Marshall county. Mrs. Crosby was still a young woman being about 24 years old. She leaves two little sons, four and five years old. Mr. Crosby was the sympathy of the entire community.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. John Phares" was Didama Dickinson who married (1) Alfred Crosby and (2) John William Phares on 2 February 1883 in Covington, Fountain County, Indiana. She had only one known child by her first marriage, Edgar Alfred Crosby. Edgar Crosby married the deceased, Margaret "Mamie" Kuhns on 24 December 1902 in Marshall County, Iowa.
