OBITUARY

DEATH OF ORRIN LASH

Orrin Lash died this forenoon at the home of his father, George Lash, in this city, aged 53 years, 4 months and 6 days. The cause of his death is supposed to have been some form of tuberculosis. and he had been more or less of an invalid for a dozen or fifteen years. Nevertheless he always continued to look actively after business matters until very nearly the time of his death. A year ago however, he concluded that it would be better for him to live in town than on the farm and he then moved to Nevada and made his home at his father's house, where a few weeks ago his illness assumed a more serious stage; and though he and his family continued to regard his case very hopefully, the end came as stated.

Mr. Lash was born in Butler county of this state on November 25, 1855, and died at Nevada, March 31, 1909. He came with his father's family to Story county in 1864. The family settled in Indian Creek township, and there, for the most part they have since resided. Mr. Lash grew up in that township and was married to Miss Fannie Bailey, January 4, 1883. They have two children who with their mother and his father survive him, as does also his only sister, Mrs. Chaffin of Nineveh, Nebraska. Mr. Lash was a man of large affairs, and through all the years of his activity he has been conspicuous in the southern part of the county. He was a man of much ability and of fine character, and though his death is not a surprise it will be most profoundly regretted.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at half past two o'clock but the place is not at this writing determined.
