From Nevada Representative January 22, 1909

Mrs. J. R. McCutchen reports starting from Seattle with the remains of her mother, Mrs. Fegtly, on Thursday morning. She will come by way of Portland and the Oregon Short Line and according to the present understanding will be due here Sunday night. This understanding is further confirmed by the report of Mrs. McCutchen's arrival Thursday in Portland; and it is now reasonably definite that Mrs. Fegtly's funeral will be conducted from the Methodist church at two o'clock Monday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. Shaw.

From Nevada Representative January 25, 1909

The funeral of the last Mrs. Fegtly is held this afternoon at the Methodist church in accordance with previous announcement. Mrs. McCutchen arrived on time last night, bringing the body of her mother from Seattle. The journey, though a trying and sad one was as comfortable as possible. The Nevada people and the neighbors in Seattle were kind in assisting her in starting, and Clyde Lockwood and his sister Myrtle were on hand to assist in the transfer ot Portland. There was the company of home folks where such company was most needed and the trains were on time and the arrival in accordance with expectation. Mrs. Fegtly was comfortable to the last, and her death came as a sudden collapse after being up. Her appearance in the coffin is peaceful and life-like. Rev. Ed. Fegtly and his family are all here for the funeral as is S. M. Fegtly of Chicago. Mrs. McCutchen has come with her mother, as noted, and the remaining daughter, Mrs. Harrington is a resident of Nevada and completes the family circle at the funeral.
