Dr. and Mrs. L. Fitzgerald* go to Mason City to attend the funeral of Mrs. Fitzgerald's nephew. Mr. John Dailey was a locomotive engineer running a passenger train between Seattle and Vancouver and in his northward run last Monday morning he, with many others was killed in a wreck of his train at or near Bellingham, Washington. Details of the disaster are meager at this distance, but it is understood that his train on emerging from a tunnel ran into an open switch from which the lantern had been removed and that it was precipitated onto the rocks and into the by. Mr. Dailey's age was forty-three, he was unmarried, his remains will be returned to Mason City to rest with those of his kindred. The funeral will probably be held Saturday. Mr. Dailey's early railroading was on the Milwaukee and it was his extraordinary fidelity and efficiency on that road which won for him the position on the Great Northern that he has held for about twenty years. Dr. Fitzgerald expects to return from Mason City early next week but Mrs. Fitzgerald will prolong her stay for several days.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Dr. and Mrs. L. Fitzgerald" were Dr. Lawrence Fitzgerald and Ellen Dailey. The deceased was the son of Ellen's older brother, John Dailey, and his wife, Susan Beardsley. Ellen (Dailey) Fitzgerald was only six years older than her nephew and one can imagine that they were probably close.
