Louise Janet “Jan” Peterson, age 80, passed away February 27, 2017 at Bethany Manor.

Jan was born on July 21, 1936, the daughter of Melvin J. and Esther (Sheldahl) Brown. She married Robert J. Peterson on October 23, 1954. Jan worked as the secretary at the Gilbert High School for many years. She was a member of the Gilbert Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and her birds. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, husband; step-mother, Ola Brown and sister, Linda Blanshan. She is survived by four sons, Tim (Lorraine) Peterson, of Ames, Michael (Kerin) Peterson, of Boone, Blake (Penny) Peterson, of Story City, Brian (Laurie) Peterson, of Story City; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a brother Ron (Ardith) Brown of Polk City.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
