Dolores Risse, age 93 of Hubbard, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Green Hills Health Center in Ames.

Dolores Bertha (Whitaker) Risse was born July 11, 1923 to Verner and Selma (Ziebell) Whitaker in Zearing, Iowa.

She attended Zearing School through the 12th grade, and graduated in 1940. She loved music and played the piano for band and glee clubs as well as the Evangelical Church in Zearing.

On April 4, 1942, Dolores married her high school sweet heart Dayles Risse at the Evangelical Church in Zearing. They were married for 64 years and lived on their farm 6 ¼ miles south of Hubbard on Highway 65 until she moved to Green Hills Health Center in Ames. She assisted Dayles with farm and field work, hog production, gardening and lawn mowing. This marriage was blessed with three children: Mary Lee, Kathy, and Mark.

Dolores was involved in many activities throughout her life. She was a member of the Evangelical Church in Zearing and later she became a member of the Cornerstone Church in Zearing. She was the corresponding secretary for the Zearing Alumni Association for 35 years and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for all occasions.

Dolores is survived by her three children Mary Lee Hraba and husband Joe of Ames, Iowa, Kathy Nickel and husband Ken of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, Mark Risse and wife Cathy of Lisbon, Iowa; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Dayles, parents Verner and Selma and brother Charles Whitaker.

Dolores was a loving, caring, giving person, adored by her family and will be forever missed.
