Gary Wellington Titus was born April 4, 1941 to Wellington David and Anna Henrietta (Weisz) Titus in Sioux City, Iowa. He married Marilyn Jean Hogue on October 19, 1963 in Schaller, Iowa. Gary graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in May of 1963. During his career, he worked for Mid-American Energy (Iowa Public Service) in Sioux City and Eagle Grove, Fuel Economy in White Bear Lake, Minn., the Omaha Public Power District in Omaha, Neb., and for City of Ames Electric Department, retiring in 2005.

Gary was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, ELCA in Nevis where he was active in the Men of Bethany, and helped in the building of the new church in 2008, along with other church members and ELCA Mission Builders. Gary enjoyed fishing and hunting, doing home repairs, woodworking, and loved spending time with his grandchildren at the lake.

Gary passed away at 75 years of age on February 22, 2017 at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, Iowa.

Gary is survived by his wife, Marilyn Titus of Nevis; his children, Timothy (Kathy) Titus of Clive, Iowa, Mark (Natalie) Titus of Pueblo, Colo., Jay Titus of Des Moines, Iowa and Beth Titus of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Ella Titus, Charles Titus, Ethan Titus and Kalli Titus; his sister, Janet (Craig) Ankerstjerne of Independence, Iowa; and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to prostate cancer research or a hospice facility of choice.
