OBITUARY

Death of Mrs. Henry Hopper

Mrs. Ivy Allen Hopper, wife of Henry A. Hopper of Milford township, died Tuesday, August 2, 1910, at their home on the Phillip Allen homestead. Her death followed the birth of twin boys on the previous Wednesday and was the result of too great depletion of her strength. It is an event that occasions the greatest regret and sympathy throughout a wide circle of friends in town and country. The deceased was the third child and second daughter of Mr. and Mrs Phillip Allen, and she was born at Delevan, Illinois, March 2, 1884. Her earlier childhood was spent in Illinois, but she came with the Allen family to Story county in March of 1896, and since then she has been a resident of Milford township a few miles northwest of Nevada. She attended for several years the Nevada high school, and she was married on November 12, 1907, to Henry A. Hopper of the same neighborhood. They lived for a couple of years on a farm adjoining her father's but this year they took charge of the home farm, it being the purpose of Mr. and Mrs Allen to leave the farm and move temporarily to Iowa City but ultimately to Nevada. She was an exceedingly bright and attractive young woman, whose prospects for a useful and happy life were of the very best, and her death is most untimely. She leaves her husband and two babies, her parents, her brothers Frank and George, and her sisters Sadie and Mae (Mesdames Max Sowers and Chris Chitty). Her funeral was conducted this forenoon from the Allen homestead by Rev. Dr. Hunter of Nevada.
